This Retro Mobile Gaming Project is a comprehensive resource for studying this history of mobile games, 1975-2008. It includes a searchable database, educational resources, a physical collection (held at Northeastern University’s CTM), and archival materials. The database was first conceptualized by Adriana de Souza e Silva and me in 2018 at NC State. Undergraduate Students from a computer science capstone course developed the first working prototype of the database. Since then, the database has expanded and additional resources have been added, with the help of many student researchers and designers as well as funding from NC State and Northeastern University.
The Oral History of Mobile Communication
The Oral Histories of Mobile Communication project documents the foundational years of the field through video interviews with key scholars who shaped its development. Launched to capture the insights of pioneering researchers from the 1990s and early 2000s, this project preserves the intellectual history of mobile communication, offering firsthand accounts of its evolution, key debates, and transformative moments.
