My research is situated at the intersection of media studies and communication. I primarily draw upon qualitative and critical methodologies to explore the relations between people, technologies, and infrastructures. I also aim to develop projects that translate academic insights to an everyday public. Broadly, my research aims to promote wellbeing and equity in digitally mediated environments.

My current work supports undergraduate research at the University of Michigan, as the Director of the Michigan Research and Discovery Scholars. Prior to this leadership role, I was an Assistant Professor of Communication and Faculty Affiliate to the School of Data Science at University of Texas at San Antonio.

I hold eleven years’ experience with student-centered teaching. My courses emphasize active learning, choice, and reflexivity. I have taught both small seminars and large-lecture courses (>100 students).
I teach courses about media studies; digital communication; academic research; and science and technology studies.
As an administrative leader, my skillset includes curriculum development, first-year experiences, change leadership, and resource management. I’ve served two years as the Director of the Michigan Research and Discovery Scholars program (2024-present), three years as Associate Director of the Networked Mobilities Lab at NC State University (2021-2024), and one year as the Program Coordinator for Communication & Media program at Methodist University (2022-2023).
I also currently serve in a number of affiliate roles, including: Advisory Board Chair for the Center for Transformative Media’s (Northeastern University); book review editor for Mobile Media & Communication journal; faculty affiliate to the Digital Studies Institute (University of Michigan); faculty affiliate to the Center for Ethics, Society and Computing (University of Michigan); and faculty affiliate to the Institute for Research on Women and Gender (University of Michigan).
